The school division hosted an AdvancED Quality Assurance Review team comprised of trained professionals from across the nation and state. The review team visited the district on March 29 - April 1, 2009, to evaluate the divisions self-assessment, determine the degree to which the division meets the AdvancED accreditation standards, and make an accreditation recommendation.  You may review the final report of the review team with the link provided below.  Parents and interested community members can learn more about the District Accreditation Process at the following web sites.

English Language Learners / Migrant Education

Estudiantes Aprendiendo Ingles / Educacion Migrante

Welcome to the Westmoreland County Public Schools ELL/MEP web site!  The English as a Second Language (ESL) Program was implemented in 2005 to provide English language services to Limited English Proficiency, LEP, students in grades K-12.  In July 2008, the program's name changed to English Language Learners (ELL).  The program is a pull-out program designed to give ELL students the tools necessary to succeed in the classroom and in the real world.  The goal of the program is to provide ELL students with temporary language instruction and support until they become self-sufficient learners.

Lunch / Breakfast Menus

The Food Services Department of Westmoreland County Public Schools provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free breakfasts and or lunches to our students each school day through the United States Department of Agriculture’s National School Lunch and National School Breakfast Programs.

School meals must meet the recommendations of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans for the appropriate age group. School lunch provides approximately one-third of the daily nutrition needs for children and school breakfast provides approximately one-fourth. Regulations establish standards for fat, saturated fat, protein, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, iron, calcium and calories. Although meals must meet Federal nutrition requirements, school divisions make decisions about what specific foods to serve and how they are prepared.

The National School Lunch Act in 1946 created the modern school lunch program. Schools across this nation serve more than 25.4 million children each day. The federal laws regulating the school food service programs today are administered under the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) through the Virginia Department of Education. The program has the objective of improving the health of students by providing good, nutritious foods that students will enjoy eating at a price that all students can afford. Another goal is to encourage and promote nutrition education.
